Phase 2: Providing food for displaced families at camps

When we arrived at the shelter camp in Nsanje (Friday, Feb 11) we were eagerly greeted by the 1470 families that are living outside around a school building. When it rains they are able to enter the classrooms but otherwise their “homes” are under some shrubs (picture 1).

We quickly learned how much distress they have been under in regards to food. They showed us that they have been drying plants they found near the river and are crushing their leaves to use to make a type of porridge.

In our care packages to each family we included basic necessities like food, bucket and pans but also were able to gift them each a copy of the Bible in Chichewa. Before distribution Pastor Chataza preached on 1 Kings 17:1-7 where the Lord miraculously provides Elijah with food. There was also a second distribution at a camp of 540 families in Chikwawa which also received the same distribution.

Please pray for a blessing on the aid given but more importantly that God’s Word may be blessed.

Are you able to help us reach more of the 100,000 displaced families? Today there are still camps that have received no aid.
