Family Days – Friday, Saturday and Sunday

We had some wonderful days with our family and the Oomens – special for Ben and Gretchen (cousins) to learn more about each other and spend time together! The children enjoy playing together too!

Saturday we went out for the day with the Oomens – they took us to the wood market, the Blantyre market, People of the Sun store and to get some groceries and we treated them to a little KFC! It was a great day spent together and we ended the day meeting with all the expats and visitors in town for a welcome dinner at a mall food court. This location was chosen so that all the children could join and enjoy as well!

Sunday we attended church with the Oomens at their home RPC church – in New Canaan near the Stephanos centre. Rev. Falamenga preaches at that church the last Sunday of every month. He preached about the need for a mediator and compared it in relation to David, Jonathan and Saul. We also were able to connect with Bart and Leneke Lodder and their little daughter Joos. They are expats from the Netherlands and live close to Gerrit and Gretchen. It was special to visit them in their home – I first met Bart on my 2018 visit and again in 2022. Ranen hopes to babysit for them on Thursday evening when we have our goodbye get together.

I really wanted the opportunity to cook an evening to give Gretchen a “day off”. Gretchen has a heart of gold and is often serving others, I really wanted the opportunity to return a little something <3.  With our busy schedule it turned out to be best on Sunday evening – it was SO special to “host” them in our guest house, especially once the power blacked out and we were on to candle light! Then we went over to their house and sang psalters around the piano… beautiful! Special memories!
